Rimmel Salon Pro Swatches

Hello there!

Today I have some swatches of the new Rimmel Salon Pro polishes. I treated myself with my Boots points for these as I really wanted to try them. I chose 6 shades and their new 3D Plumping Top Coat which I'll show at the end of the post. All swatches are 2 coats without top coat.

Just a quick round up for these: all of them applied like butter and dried in a couple of minutes (tops). I wore Rock N Roll for a few days and was really impressed with the wear; hardly any tip wear and no chips. I can never usually get more than a day out of my polish so this was a big deal for me! The brush has a rounded tip rather than square which made application soooo easy. Click the  'Read More' button for the swatches and a little more info about my chosen shades.

Disco Fever
*This post is picture heavy*

Disco Fever
Disco Fever is a bright purple with a subtle shimmer and I love it. This is the only one that I wish I'd applied 3 coats of though as it's a little on the sheer side.

Hip Hop
Hip Hop is a coral orange, unfortunately I only have one photo of this as the rest were showing just way too orange on my camera and I haven't yet mastered colour correction. This leans more pink in real life.

Navy Seal

Navy Seal
Navy Seal is a light denim blue, leaning towards purple. This was a perfect cream in my opinion. Not as sheer as the previous two.

Punk Rock

Punk Rock
Punk Rock is a dark purple leaning grey, another perfect cream.

Rock N Roll

Rock N Roll
Rock N Roll is a pillar box red, very British, no surprises here.

Urban Purple

Urban Purple
Urban Purple is another spot on cream finish but was so damn difficult to photograph! Its a purple that leans towards red so was showing up more red in most of my photos. I hope this comes across okay on your screen lol.

3D Plumping Top Coat
Lastly is the new 3D Plumping Top Coat. I LOVE THIS TOP COAT. It's shiny, plumping (exactly as it say on the tin) and best of all it dries super quick! I was so surprised at how fast it dried, especially as it doesn't claim to be quick-drying. It also didn't shrink my mani which always make me a happy bunny.

And here's a couple of bonus photos of the brushes.

The right is the polish brush and the left is the top coat brush. The double brush on the top coat means it goes on in one sweep rather than having to apply 3 strokes and getting those annoying bumps that sometimes occur. The one thing I don't like about these brushes is how chunky the handles are. I wish they'd made them so you could remove the chunky cover (ya dig?) as it would make them a lot easier to hold and more 'salon pro'.

So there you have it! If you've made it this far, well done!!

  2. I wanted to ask if you have had problems with the urban purple coming off on your topcoat brush? I bought this a week ago and totally love it but when I go to put a top coat (or today a white crackle top coat) the colour comes off onto the top coat/crackle brush. I've been having to wipe the brush clean between each nail to stop the purple colour transfering to the clear/white bottle and ruining it! At first I though I was just too impatient and the colour hadn't dried but I did the white crackle today several hours after the base coat and it still happened =( I can't work out if this is just that I got a duff bottle or if it's a problem with the brand or something? Any ideas?

    1. Hi! I cant recall having any issues with urban purple. I apply top coat when it is almost dry and use light strokes-that may help? Or you may have a dud bottle. To be honest I haven't used this polish in such a long time it would be difficult to comment properly. I've never had any problems brand-wise though. It could be your topcoat (I know my essence tends to pull colour off but my seche vite works fine) sorry I can't be more helpful! X

    2. I have the top coat from Rimmel too (the one you have a pic of in this post!) and no matter how lightly I use it it still comes off. Might take a picture of the brush with the colour on it and then post both bottles back to them with the picture and a complaint. Sucks because the colour is my favourite ever and the top coat stops chipping so much better than the sally henson one I had before! Thanks for your reply though!! =)
