OPI Liquid Sand

Hello there!

Happy Monday. I have some swatches of the Mariah Carey for OPI Liquid Sand Collection today. I bought these as minis so don't be concerned for my giant looking hands here, it's just the tiny bottles :P

I've seen a lot of swatches of these and I couldn't quite decide if I wanted to buy any so I figured buying minis would help me make that decision...

Get Your Number a bright ocean blue with lots and blue and silver, some holographic, glitter. Here you are looking at 2 coats on my index finger and middle finger, and 3 coats on my ring and pinky. I did it this way as I couldn't quite decide if it needed the third coat. This took an age to dry and I possibly didnt wait long enough before photographing this...I'm way too impatient for that shizzle.

whoa! giant hand!

I quite like this! This was a surprise for me as I was expecting to not be bothered about it. Here's the obligatory photo showing this with two coats of NYC top coat (could possibly need a third to get a really smooth finish). I prefer this without top coat; it kind of defeats the object otherwise but it's nice to have the option.

Impossible is an orangey-red leaning towards pink. This is a winner for me. The formula was much better; it dried quicker and only needed two coats. The mini bottles don't seem to contain any star glitter which is a shame as I was really looking forward to it..I suppose I'll just have to buy the full size of this one!

And with top coat it looks just as pretty. In fact, this actually reminds me of the type of red polish you'd wear as a child if you know what I mean.

Can't Let Go is a purple-blue, I can't quite decide if it's more purple than blue-useful I know. I liked this one. It had a lot of purple glitter going on and sparkled so much more in real life. This is 3 coats here and it dried pretty fast.

And here it is with top coat.
my nails look super weird here-bad angle!

Stay the Night is black with a load of micro red glitter. I am really undecided about this one. I keep looking at it and like it for a second then hate it again. It dries to more of a dark grey than black-when it eventually dries that is! I applied 3 coats with this one and for some reason the tips of my nails just wouldn't dry properly. I gave up waiting and photographed it anyway, I'm that kinda gal. I do like how the red glitter really shines against the matte black/grey though.

And with top coat. I think I prefer it like this.

So what do you think of these? Overall I'm quite happy with them and will probably buy Impossible, Get your Number and maybe Can't Let Go as full size bottles. I'm just not convinced about Stay the Night. I feel like I could get something similar, minus the texture, from an indie supplier. I like that you can switch these from textured to a smooth polish with a few coats of topcoat. The texture of them is really interesting, not too gritty  that they're uncomfortable to wear but gritty enough to look different and set themselves apart.

  1. Oh wow, these are gorgeous, I actually dont think I could decide what one to buy. The top coat adds a real gel nail like quality. Love it. I did a post on nails inc varnishes so let me know what you think :)
