Perceval & Jane Eyre

Hello there!

Today I'm going to show you some swatches from my first A-England purchases. If you don't know much or anything about A-England, in short, they are an 'indie' brand of polish and they have a pretty massive following in the nail blogging world. I first heard about them reading other blogs so I thought I'd jump on the band wagon and try a couple for myself.

My first purchases were Perceval and Jane Eyre. Click on the images to see a bigger picture.

Jane Eyre:

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed with this. In the bottle (and on the website) it has an obvious purple shimmer to it, but once it's on the nail it could just be any other shimmery black polish. I am a lover of black polishes, especially those with a bit of something extra to them, but I expected more from this for the price. I did however put it on my mum's nails the other day and really like it on her. Maybe it's my skin tone that doesn't do it justice. I'm not completely disappointed with it as I will wear it, it just won't be one of my favourites.

Perceval was much more my cup of tea. This looked as stunning in real life as it did on the website. It's a bright postbox red with a metallic finish to it. When I first put this on I instantly thought 'superman red'. Don't ask me why!

One thing I will say, and it's probably been said before, is the consistency and coverage of these polishes is spot on. I wore 2 coats but if you apply carefully you could probably get away with one; especially if you wore Jane Eyre over a black creme. And neither of them stain after removal which is always a plus- I've had nightmares in the past with red polish!

So there you have it. Will I buy A-England again? Yes. There are so many beautiful shades to choose from that it would be daft to be put off by Jane Eyre (just see my wishlist!) and it's never a bad thing to support small businesses.

Have you tried any A-England?
